Suspended judge accused of stealing neighbors underwear

A New York judge who, according to police, repeatedly burst into his Long Island neighbor’s house to steal her underwear was formally suspended.

New York Chief Judge Janet DiFiore signed the decision ordering the suspension without payment of Robert Cicale from the District Court, effective immediately.

Police said the woman was alone in her house in East Islip when she heard a noise and saw a man running away. Officers say they found Cicale carrying the woman’s “dirty underwear.”

“We believe that women’s underwear comes from that robbery or from a previous robbery in that place,” said the past at the time of Cicale’s arrest the Acting Commissioner of the Suffolk County Police, Stuart Cameron.

After Judge Cicale’s arrest, Suffolk County prosecutor Tim Sini had said that the man “indicated in his confession that he has impulses to steal female underwear.”

When asked about the case, Cicale’s lawyer said his client had a stellar reputation.
