Over 7 million people who receive Supplemental Security Income are eligible for the May late SSI payment. On the first day of the month, the majority of them get paid for May.
As a result, on May 30, 2025, only those who are still qualified will receive a new monthly payment for June. This Federal benefit may, of course, cease if you overcome a qualifying disability or if your wages exceed the cap.
SSI benefits are typically scheduled by Social Security on the first of each month. Additionally, there are no bonuses or additional payouts. Therefore, a total of 12 payments are made to each recipient annually.
Because of the Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increase, the amount does actually fluctuate, although only once a year.
In order to keep up with inflation, this COLA lets recipients receive a larger benefit. However, why is May 30 the deadline for the June payment?
Payment of SSI on May 30
Since June 1 is not a business day, the June Supplemental Security Income payment will be deposited on May 30. Although it falls on a weekend, it is not a federal holiday.
This Federal payment must be made on the prior business day since Social Security is unable to schedule Supplemental Security or pay payments on Sundays. If it falls inside the prior month, it makes no difference.
So far, it hasn’t been the only change, and it won’t be the last. The initial January modification to the SSI payment schedule is a frequent one.
It must be released the day before the prior business day because January 1st is a federal holiday.
It is always sent in the prior month and year as a result. For instance, on December 31, 2024, the January 1 payment was delivered.

Up to $1,450 will be paid in SSI benefits
If both you and your spouse are qualified, the maximum SSI payout in 2025 is $1,450. You can only get up to $967 if you’re an individual, though.
As of March 2025, an SSI applicant can expect to receive approximately $715 on average. An average payout is still a significant sum of money, even if you are not eligible for the entire amount.
On average, under-18s can get $831. Just so you know, children who have a qualifying disability or are blind may also be eligible for Supplemental Security Income.

The average salary for individuals between the ages of 18 and 64 is $763. Recipients 65 and older receive the lowest average payment.
Their average SSI benefit as of March 2024 is $592. In recent months, this average amount has somewhat increased. In the past, it was $590 and $591. Changes are therefore not anticipated.
Some beneficiaries may get smaller Supplemental Security Income payments because they have other sources of income, pensions, or Social Security benefits. Keep in mind that this is a payout for Americans with low incomes.
