2 women killed in South Los Angeles crash after driver runs Red Light

Two people were killed in South Los Angeles early Wednesday morning when a motorist blew a red light and broadsided another car, and authorities believe alcohol was involved.

The crash occurred at 12:09 a.m. near Normandie Avenue and Century Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to the agency, the driver of a Buick Envision was driving northbound when he sped past the traffic light and collided with an eastbound Honda CR-V. The Honda collided with a light pole before careening into a nearby petrol station.

Two women in the Honda perished on the scene, while two passengers were taken to the hospital. Both people in the Buick were also transported to the hospital.

It is unknown whether any arrests have been made.
