Authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash in Boone County. The crash reported to happen on Tuesday night.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a crash near 4065 Burlington Pike in Burlington.
Tyler Herald, 26, from Elsmere, died at the scene. He was driving west on Burlington Pike in a 2008 Honda Fit. The car reportedly crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane.
Herald’s car collided with a 2020 Chevy Equinox, driving it into an embankment.
The driver of the Chevy was critically hurt and transported to the hospital. Deputies responded to the crash and discovered Herald dead at the scene.
“Speed and failure to maintain lane are believed to be a factor from Herald’s vehicle, and alcohol/drug impairment factors are not believed to be factors from either driver but will still be investigated. All drivers and occupants were confirmed to be wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. No charges have been filed at this time,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a press release.
The road reopened to traffic around 10:55 p.m.
The identity of the other driver has not been revealed. Also, the medical condition of the same driver is also not available.
The authorities have opened an investigation into the crash. The authorities suspect that high speed could be a factor of the crash. Also, the possibility of alcohol/drug involvement in the crash is also being investigated.
