3 Arkansas residents dead and 2 injured after Honda slams into School Bus on US 212

Three persons were killed after their vehicle collided with a school bus in Big Horn County on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

The crash occurred at mile marker 38 on US Highway 212, approximately four miles west of Lame Deer.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a Honda Civic with five occupants was traveling eastbound when it collided with the rear of a halted school bus transporting children.

Neither the bus driver nor the children were wounded.

The Honda’s three occupants died. Two of the Honda’s occupants were taken to St. Vincent in Billings; the nature and extent of their injuries have not been disclosed.

  • Driver: 19-year old male; was wearing seatbelt; injured.
  • Occupant 1: male, age unknown; no seatbelt; dead.
  • Occupant 2: female infant; no seatbelt; dead.
  • Occupant 3: 18-year old female; no seatbelt; injured.
  • Occupant 4: female; age unknown; no seatbelt; dead.

According to the MHP, two of the occupants are from Arkansas. The names of the three victims who died have not yet been disclosed.

According to the MHP investigation, drinking and/or drugs were not a factor in the incident; the road was clear and dry.
