34-year-old Birmingham man dies 14 months after Ensley shooting

Over a year after being shot in Ensley, a man from Birmingham passed away.

On Wednesday, Kentez Jamar Cunningham, 34, passed away, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office reported.

The shooting occurred at the intersection of 24th Street and Avenue D in Ensley just before 9:30 p.m. on May 31, 2024.

Cunningham passed away at Arlington Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center on Wednesday at 6:17 a.m.

Lead Deputy Coroner Matt Angelo declared his death to be a homicide.
