According to Detroit police, a 60-year-old man died in a two-vehicle crash involving a stolen car on Friday.
The crash occurred near Murray Hill Street and Puritan Avenue.
According to Deputy Chief Jacqueline Pritchett, officers performed a traffic stop around 8 p.m. and were about to get out of their car when the driver fled, resulting in a police pursuit. Pritchett said that seconds later, they observed smoke and two heavily damaged vehicles.
They spotted the suspect vehicle, but the driver fled. He was eventually arrested.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 60-year-old man, was transported to the hospital and died of his injuries.
According to Pritchett, an initial investigation revealed that the suspect car was stolen from Redford, Michigan, and the man was wanted for aggravated assault in Eastpointe.
