64-year-old faces multiple felonies after girl reports abuse, chains found in basement

After being accused with many charges of sexual assault and reportedly chaining up a minor, a guy in southern Wisconsin had his cash bond set at $100,000.

David Boyd, 64, is charged with several offenses after allegedly sexually assaulting a girl and securing her in a basement and preventing her from leaving, according to a criminal complaint that Local 5 was able to obtain.

CPS was notified on January 7, 2025, that Boyd, the boyfriend of the girl’s grand-godmother, had sexually molested the minor. According to the lawsuit, the alleged assaults occurred when the victim was eight or nine years old.

Authorities received information about the alleged assaults from the victim. According to the complaint, the woman claimed that Boyd had used a knife on her, which is why the nurse practitioner discovered several scars on her.

The victim had another conversation with officials at the end of February. In a basement, she said, Boyd shackled her arms to a pole. She also stated in the lawsuit that Boyd refused to feed her and kept her “chained up” for a number of days, causing her to skip school.

According to the complaint, she admitted to authorities that while she was tied up, she drank water on the ground.

When police carried out a search warrant at a home on April 16, they discovered objects that matched the victim’s specifications. According to the allegation, chains were discovered in the basement.

According to the authorities, they tried to talk to Boyd several times. He finally reportedly consented to speak at the Brown Deer Police Department.

Boyd faces the following charges:

    • Felony
    • Up to 60 years in prison
  • Physical abuse of a child, use of a dangerous weapon
    • Felony
    • Up to six years in prison (can be increased by six due to using a dangerous weapon)
  • Trafficking of a child
    • Felony
    • Up to 40 years in prison
  • False imprisonment
    • Felony
    • Up to six years in prison
  • Repeated sexual assault of a child
    • Felony
    • Up to 60 years in prison

According to court documents, Boyd made his first appearance in court on April 28. The amount of his cash bond was $100,000. Milwaukee County is where the charges were filed.

On May 7, he is expected to return to court for a preliminary hearing.
