The man who lost his life in a four-vehicle collision close to Ann Morrison Park has been identified by authorities.
According to a news release from the Boise Police Department, preliminary evidence indicated that the victim’s car was struck by a pickup truck traveling north on Americana Boulevard just before 2:48 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to the announcement, the vehicle had been turning from the southbound lane to the left into the park. The truck and car then struck two additional cars that were stopped at the red light, according to the police.
The fatality was identified Wednesday afternoon by the Ada County Coroner’s Office as Mitchell Edwards, 66, of Boise. According to a news release from the coroner, Edwards was declared dead at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday in the emergency room of Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
According to the study, Edwards died from traumatic blunt force injuries, and the cause of death was listed as accidental. According to officials, a dog in Edwards’ car also passed away. According to police, no other people were seriously hurt.
On Tuesday, while police cleared the area and conducted an investigation, they closed Americana between Crescent Rim Drive and Shoreline Drive.
