Investigators with the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office think a 70-year-old driver was driving the wrong way on Highway 10 prior to a severe incident that injured a state trooper and sent a juvenile to the hospital with critical injuries.
According to an amended release from the office, evidence reveals the man was driving east in the westbound lane of Highway 10 when he was hit by an SUV driven by a 17-year-old Milaca resident.
The SUV included two passengers, one aged 15 and the other aged 19. Two of the teenagers were sent to Hennepin County Medical Centre.
According to the release, the crash occurred in the left lane of the highway, and the state trooper was responding to complaints about a wrong-way driver when his car collided with the others.
“Investigators are examining the possibility that some of the occupants of the vehicles involved in the T-bone were outside of their vehicles when the second collision occurred,” according to a statement.
Alcohol is not thought to have played a factor in the crash.
