Bronx grow house busted during meter repossession; 350 pounds of illegal weed seized

More than 300 pounds of illegal THC and cannabis products were seized Friday when investigators seized a Con Edison gas and electric meter from a Bronx house.

They also found magic mushrooms.

According to officials, Con Edison and the City Marshal’s office were at 967 Longfellow Avenue serving the meter with repossession papers when they unintentionally came across a grow house.

Authorities reported finding several weed plants growing inside the structure.

In the end, the Sheriff’s Department confiscated 1.8 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, 56.2 pounds of cannabis flower, 23.9 pounds of edibles, and 270.1 pounds of developing cannabis plants.

Authorities claim that in addition to the seizure, the site received other civil violations, such as violations from Con Edison and a vacate notice from the Department of Buildings.

The building was given an immediate closure and 350 pounds of marijuana were confiscated. According to officials, an additional investigation is presently in progress.
