One man was killed in a double shooting in Brooklyn on Monday night, while another man was wounded in the eye. The NYPD is looking into the incident.
Shortly after 10 p.m., police received 911 calls regarding gunfire. The two gunshot victims were found outside the residence at 1233 Putnam Ave., which is surrounded by trees in Bushwick.
A 39-year-old male was one of the victims; he was shot in the abdomen. According to police, the other individual, a 63-year-old man, was wounded in the eye.
Both victims were taken by paramedics to Brookdale Hospital, where, according to NYPD officials, the younger victim was declared dead at 10:47 p.m.
The 63-year-old’s status was reported as stable.
According to authorities, the victims’ names are being kept secret until their families are notified.
Ballistics were found at the scene, but investigators claimed it was too soon to tell if the victims were innocent bystanders or the target of a crime.
According to authorities, the fatal shooting is still being investigated, and as of early Tuesday morning, no witnesses have come forward.
According to NYPD records, the most recent gun violence represents the seventh shooting incident and the eighth and ninth gunshot victims in the 83rd Precinct this year.
Compared to the same time last year, when there were just two shooting victims and two shooting occurrences in the precinct through June 1, the figure is far higher.
