A woman from Louisiana was taken into custody following an incident where she and her brother allegedly attacked her former partner, reportedly stating that “he should die.”
As reported by a local news source, Ruby Ealy, 48, was arrested after an event on May 29 when law enforcement arrived in response to reports of a shooting in a neighborhood in East Baton Rouge, Louisiana. When they arrived, authorities reported that the individual involved, referred to as Ruby Ealy’s former partner, sustained a gunshot injury to the arm.
According to reports, the former partner claimed to authorities that prior to being shot, Ruby Ealy assaulted him with a baseball bat.
The Advocate’s coverage reveals that the former partner informed authorities about a dispute he had with Ruby Ealy, with whom he had a three-year relationship that ended a year ago. During her police interview, Ruby Ealy reiterated the same statement. Nonetheless, the narrative of the previous pair took divergent paths from that moment onward.
According to the ex-boyfriend, Darius Ealy, Ruby Ealy’s brother, was present at the residence during the dispute, and he is the one accused of firing the shot. Prior to the reported gunfire, the former partner purportedly claimed that the siblings assaulted him with a baseball bat while expressing that “he should die.” It is claimed that they assaulted the man using their fists. A local ABC affiliate has acquired the documents and reported that Ruby Ealy informed police she heard the gunshots from within the house.
Ruby Ealy first stated that the only people present at the residence were herself and her former partner. She allegedly claimed that her former partner became physical with her, leading her to take measures for her own protection. Court documents reveal that Ruby Ealy ultimately pointed out Darius Ealy as the individual who reportedly shot her former partner.
Authorities reported that Darius Ealy allegedly shot the ex-boyfriend multiple times following his departure from the residence. Darius Ealy was absent when law enforcement reached the location and is currently deemed to be on the run.
Ruby Ealy has been taken into custody facing allegations of being an accomplice to attempted second-degree murder and domestic battery.
