Sheriff’s authorities say several teenagers were detained on suspicion of burglary and damage after they allegedly broke into a house in Sonoma County.
According to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a residential burglary in the 8200 block of Trenton Road in Forestville at approximately 3:22 a.m. on Saturday.
According to a neighbour, someone went into the garage and switched out the lights. The homeowners were out of town, and the neighbour knew it.
Deputies discovered a broken padlock on the house’s garage door when they got there. They found a Toyota pickup inside the garage that had been reported stolen to the Santa Rosa Police Department on May 29.
Eight youths between the ages of 14 and 16 walked out and were taken into custody after deputies asked everyone inside the house to leave.
Since they are juveniles, their names have not been made public.
According to officials, the newly renovated house had serious damage, including holes in the floorboards, shattered sheetrock, and spray-painted walls.
They are charged with felonies.
