During a raid on a residence in Washington state, police found a cache of weapons and armor, including grenade launchers and a machine gun, in addition to Nazi memorabilia, authorities reported Tuesday.
The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division requested his office’s help Monday as an FBI special weapons and tactics team carried out a search warrant in Lacey, close to the state capitol of Olympia, “as a result of a violent robbery and theft of military weaponry/armor,” according to a Facebook post by Thurston County elected sheriff Derek Sanders.
The search warrant was related to an Army CID and FBI investigation into an attack that occurred Sunday at Joint Base Lewis-McCord, which is located just north of Olympia, according to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle on Tuesday evening.
According to Sanders’ statement, two individuals were taken into custody and booked into Thurston County Jail in connection with a firearms-related investigation.
“The suspects identified in this case were actively involved in Nazi White Nationalist efforts,” he stated.
According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the FBI carried out the search warrant late Monday night into early Tuesday after Army investigators had identified suspects in the assault at the military base.
A federal criminal complaint that was scheduled to be released on Wednesday was anticipated to contain more details.
On Wednesday afternoon, the two arrested individuals were scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Tacoma for their initial appearances.
Sanders stated that 35 weaponry, including short barrel rifles and an MG42 machine gun, which was used by German troops during World War II and is usually supported by a bipod, had been found at the residence.

Several guns were set up at windows throughout the house, and other confiscated items included explosives, grenade launchers, body armor, ammunition, and ballistic helmets, according to the sheriff.
He shared pictures from the house that showed a variety of weapons, ammo, and body armor encircled by Nazi symbols, such as a red Nazi banner with a black swastika on it.
