Cottontown, TN – A teenager from Tennessee is charged with stabbing his father on Monday in Cottontown.
According to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, later in the morning, deputies arrived at the Cottontown residence.
A 17-year-old boy allegedly attacked his father after the father allegedly shot the household dog for killing chickens, according to the SCSO’s investigation.
The child walked outside to the henhouse to confront his father after hearing a gunshot from inside the house, according to the sheriff’s office, and stabbed him twice. Following a dispute, the child returned outside and fired several shots after going inside to get a gun.
According to SCSO, the father was able to leave the property in order to get assistance.
The father is recuperating from non-life-threatening injuries, and the boy was later taken into custody.
“The entire situation is tragic,” said Chief Deputy Tommy Greer. “Anytime a family dispute turns violent, especially involving a juvenile, it’s heartbreaking for everyone involved.”
Charges are still pending and the investigation is still ongoing.
