Montgomery County , OH – Following three separate escapes from police in a stolen SUV prior to a collision in Trotwood that claimed the life of a 15-year-old and injured a second youngster, an 18-year-old from New Lebanon is now facing charges.
Three charges of noncompliance, two counts of vehicular assault, and one count each of aggravated vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter, and obtaining stolen property were brought against Dominick Aiden Jackson Parlett.
The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office reports that on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, Moraine police spotted a Ford Escape that had been reported stolen in Fairborn earlier that day. The SUV escaped when officers attempted to pull it over after installing a tracking device on it. Police ended the chase because of the driver’s reckless driving.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Miamisburg police located the same SUV less than ten minutes later and attempted to pull it over, but it fled once more. Once more, police ended the pursuit because of the vehicle’s risky speed.
The SUV was soon discovered in Jefferson Township by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies, who attempted to stop it for the third time before the driver escaped and collided with another car near the intersection of Little Richmond Road and North Snyder Road.
After a brief pursuit, the driver—later identified as Parlett—was apprehended after escaping on foot.
The prosecutor’s office claims that 15-year-old Jaden McClaskey, one of the passengers in the pilfered SUV, was gravely hurt in the collision and passed away two days later. Another young traveler was hurt but made it out alive.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Parlett had been arrested a few days prior to this event for causing damage to another stolen car.
His arraignment is set for June 24 and he is presently being held at the Montgomery County Jail.
