Lord Wedgwood Charity donates lifesaving Automated External Defibrillators to American Village

FROM STAFF REPORTS

MONTEVALLO

– American Village has announced the donation of three Automated External Defibrillators from the Lord Wedgwood Charity.

This gift of potentially lifesaving equipment is a powerful example of what can happen when a community comes together with a shared commitment to public safety and service,” read a statement from American Village.

The donation was made possible through the collaborative efforts of several local leaders with deep ties to American Village and each other. Alan Miller, CEO of American Village and a graduate of Leadership Shelby County, worked with fellow alumni Rusty Lowe, Jake Guercio and CJ Guercio to facilitate the gift.

“Their outreach, along with support from the North Shelby County Fire District and the Lord Wedgwood Charity, made this initiative a reality,” the statement continued.

Lowe, who also works with GoRescue, will assist with installation and staff training on the new AED units, ensuring American Village is fully equipped and ready to respond in the event of a cardiac emergency.

“This is an important step for American Village to provide safety for their visitors and staff,” Lowe said. “We are excited to be part of this process. AEDs and CPR are of utmost importance for the survival of victims experiencing sudden cardiac arrest and time is of the essence.”

Miller echoed Lowe’s sentiments.

“This is a great example of what happens when a community works together,” Miller said. “Thanks to the kindness and initiative of these individuals and organizations, we are better prepared to respond to medical emergencies—especially during large public events like Independence Day, when we welcome thousands of visitors to campus.”

The addition of these AEDs enhances American Village’s emergency preparedness and underscores its ongoing commitment to providing a safe environment for all guests and staff.
