Mushrooms Recalled Over Safety Concerns; Customers Urged to Check Products

As a result of concerns that the product may contain listeria, Hofood99 Inc. has decided to recall the packaging of their Enoki Mushrooms.

This year has seen a significant number of product recalls launched due to the risk for the following: damaged products, foodborne disease, contamination, and undeclared food allergies.

Every year, millions of people in the United States of America suffer from food sensitivities or food allergies.

Eggs, milk, fish, wheat, soybeans, crustacean shellfish, sesame, tree nuts, and peanuts are those that are considered to be the nine “major” food allergens in the United States, as stated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning that Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that has the potential to cause severe infections, which can occasionally be deadly, in elderly or fragile individuals, young children, and those with compromised immune systems.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns that listeria can also cause stillbirths or miscarriages in pregnant women.

As per the alert issued by the FDA, the mushrooms were dispersed across the entire country to various stores and retailers.

There is a UPC barcode of 6 976532 310051 located on the back label of the 200-gram green plastic container sold with the recalled mushrooms. The mushrooms are offered in green plastic packaging.

The mushrooms that were recalled have not been linked to any illnesses or injuries that have been reported.
