Foreigners can now apply for U.S. citizenship through President Donald Trump’s much-discussed “gold card,” which requires them to pay the government $5 million.
However, there is a queue at trumpcard.gov even if you have the funds. Additionally, carefully read the fine print: You do not instantly become a citizen with $5 million.
Trump has stated that he is not requesting congressional approval because he is merely offering gold card holders a route to citizenship rather than citizenship itself.
White House officials have stated that further information will be released soon, although it is unclear how card buyers will proceed with the citizenship criteria.
Being a lawful permanent resident for at least five years is the most popular route to naturalisation and U.S. citizenship.
In order to be eligible, a candidate must be at least eighteen years old, possess “good moral character,” and be able to read, write, and speak basic English, depending on their age.
“Somewhat like a green card, but at a higher level of sophistication,” is how Trump has characterised the card, which he has also called the Trump card.
“FOR FIVE MILLION $DOLLARS, THE TRUMP CARD IS COMING!” President Donald Trump declared on Truth Social on June 11. “Thousands have been calling and asking how they can sign up to ride a beautiful road in gaining access to the Greatest Country and Market anywhere in the World.”
In addition to asking for information like name, region, email address, and whether the applicant is registering on behalf of themselves or a business, the website displays an image of the gold card with a picture of Trump’s face on it.
Interested parties are asked to complete a form on the new website that lists eight regions: North America, Oceania, Central America, South America, Africa, Asia (including the Middle East), Europe, and the Caribbean.
Other nations also have immigration policies that provide foreign investors with citizenship or permanent residency in return for their investment. For instance, Portugal provides residency and, after five years, a route to EU membership.

Trump initially proposed the card in February, claiming it would take the place of the “EB-5” immigrant investor green card visa program.
With the EB-5 visa, foreign investors can contribute anywhere from $800,000 to $1.05 million in order to get a green card. The investment funds support the creation or maintenance of jobs in the United States.
In February, Trump declared, “Wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card. They’ll be wealthy, and they’ll be successful, and they’ll be spending a lot of money, and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people.”
“It’s a road to citizenship for people and essentially people of wealth or people of great talent where people of wealth pay for those people of talent to get in,” he stated.
