Alabaster native Logan Braunschweig named college Gold Glove finalist for UAB

One of Alabaster’s own earned recognition as one of the best players in all of college baseball as Logan Braunschweig received finalist honors for the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Gold Glove Team.

The ABCA and Rawlings announced the finalists on Monday, Jun 16, and Braunschweig was one of just 24 Division I players and six outfielders named to as finalists.

Just like in the MLB, the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove team recognizes the top defensive players in the country, and Braunschweig certainly fit that billing with his performance in center field for UAB in 2025.

As a senior, Braunschweig ranked sixth in Division I baseball with 9.0 outs above average. In his 53 starts in center field, he finished with a .974 fielding percentage off of his 154 total chances. He also had four outfield assists on the season.

His performance was in line with his career average, which stood at a .977 fielding percentage off 438 total chances across 196 appearances in four seasons. He ended his Blazers career with 11 outfield assists.

In addition to his defensive statistics, Braunschweig led the American Athletic Conference with 27 stolen bases and ranked third in runs scored with 52. He finished seventh in UAB history in both statistics for his career.

He earned 65 hits, 52 runs, 14 doubles and seven home runs in addition to his 27 stolen bases. All five of those were career highs for Braunschweig, and he also led the team with 19 multi-hit games. He led the club in doubles, runs and stolen bases as well.

In all, Braunschweig finished with a .319 batting average and .937 OPS by virtue of reaching base in 50 of his 53 starts. He earned All-Conference Second Team honors for the second-straight season.

Braunschweig was an All-State outfielder at Thompson after he led the Warriors with a .391 average in 2021 while amassing 43 hits, the third-highest haul in the county. He earned an All-State Honorable Mention in that season along with All-County Second Team honors.

Rawlings will announce the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove winners at each position on Wednesday, June 18 via its official social media channels.
