CALERA
– Residents from Calera and surrounding communities will have the opportunity to see a mainstay of popular Christian up close and personal.
Sanctus Real is set to perform at Christian Life Fellowship, located at 6107 U.S. Highway 31, on June 24 at 7 p.m.
Christian Life Fellowship’s head pastor Mark Davis is looking forward to hosting the group and hearing the message shared in its music.
“For over two decades, Sanctus Real has been a major player in the Christian music scene,” Davis said. “They’ve scored No. 1 hits, won Dove awards and Grammy nominations. We’ re glad to have them stop in and spend an evening with us to play their songs and lift up the name of Jesus.”
Since the band got together in Toledo, Ohio in 1996, Sanctus Real has produced eight No. 1 singles, 19 Top 10 hits and has been nominated for two Grammys. Some of the group’s most well-known songs include “Lead Me,” “I’m Not Alright,” “Forgiven,” “My God Is Still the Same” and “Confidence,” a RIAA Gold-certified single.
The trio of Dustin Lolli on lead vocals, Chris Rohman on guitar and Mark Graalman on drums have taken a largely hands-on approach throughout their time together, doing a lot of their songwriting and other production in-house. This has allowed them to sharpen their music skills and put out the best product possible for their listeners.
The band has had to make multiple pivots throughout its time together, particularly when Lolli stepped in for co-founder Matt Hammitt in 2016. The band has adjusted well since making the change nearly a decade ago.
There have been struggles along the way, particularly when Rohman was hospitalized after suffering from a stress-induced mental breakdown. The band has relied on God to help them power through the hardships.
Davis is looking for members of the community to treat the experience as an opportunity to come together and receive the important message Sanctus Real conveys through its music.
“We hope the concert will bring people together to celebrate the joy and hope we have in Jesus,” Davis said. “Sanctus Real’s music focuses a lot on the love God has for us, and I think that’s a message we all need to hear and experience.”
