CALERA
– With the fall approaching, Calera youth football and cheer registration is now open.
Football registration for athletes ages 5 through 11 will close on July 20. Cheer registration for kindergarteners through sixth graders will close on June 28.
A fee of $190 must be paid in full at the time of registration for either sport. Football players will be provided with a helmet, shoulder pads, pants and game jersey. Everything but the jersey will be returned at the end of the season. Football players need to come with cleats, a mouthpiece, a chin strap and a practice jersey. Sizing dates for football will be listed on the registration form.
Cheerleaders will be provided with a uniform top and skirt, bloomers, a jacket, poms and a hair bow. They need to come with cheer shoes and socks. Coaches will inform parents of the colors when practice starts.
A sizing date for cheerleaders will take place on Saturday, June 28 at the Calera Community Center, located at 8560 U.S. 31. The Parks and Recreation Office highly encourages anyone who is unable to make the date to come by their office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. There will be no makeup sizing dates after June 28 and orders cannot be made if a child has not been sized by this date.
Football practices take place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Eagle Sports Complex Soccer Fields. Practices can be expected to start the last Monday of July or the first week of August.
