CALERA

– With the Municipal Election, set for Tuesday, Aug. 26, approaching, candidates continue to officially enter the Calera City Council race. Henry Davis, the youngest candidate at 29 years old, is among the latest to announce his decision to run.

Davis is a Calera High School graduate and volunteer on the city’s Parks and Recreation Board. He is a practicing physical therapist in Calera, giving him additional insight into the things that matter most to local residents.

“I am a dedicated community member, proud Calera resident and passionate about advocating for growth in the community,” Davis said. “I was raised on the values of hard work, faith and service. From an early age, I understood the power of community and how neighbors helping neighbors can build a strong, safer and more united city.”

The lifelong Calera resident plans to bring “intentional, forward-thinking leadership” to the community if elected. Davis’ top priorities include strategic economic development, public safety support, youth and community investment, transparent governance and smart infrastructure planning.

“(I believe in) supporting thoughtful business growth that aligns with Calera’s long-term vision—especially in sectors that enhance the quality of life for residents,” Davis said.

Planning to “give back creatively” to the city that raised him, specific tasks for Davis would be improving relationships between different organizations, improving city infrastructure through grant opportunities and maintaining consistent communication between the city government and its residents.

With many individuals growing increasingly unhappy with the city’s current leadership, Davis hopes to be a part of righting the ship of his hometown and helping set it up for the future. He is confident in the community’s way forward with the right people in office.

“As someone who grew up here, is raising my family here and is actively serving this community, I believe Calera is at a pivotal point,” Davis said. “With the right leadership, we can grow in a way that’s smart, inclusive and built for long-term success.”

Bringing a local and small-business ownership background to the table, Davis aims to make Calera the best community possible.

“I am not here to make empty promises,” Davis said. “I am here to do the work it takes to improve Calera, because this is my home too.”
