After More Than Three Decades, Beloved Restaurant Reopens Its Doors

At the same time that one seafood restaurant in Ohio is going out of business, another is getting ready to make a comeback.

According to Sav McKee of 614Now, the Columbus, Ohio establishment known as Marino’s Seafood Fish & Chips is going out of business after 32 years of operation.

Harry Kougendakis and Rosemarie Kougendakis, the proprietors, have decided to retire.

“It was a good opportunity,” Harry stated. “I’ve been in the food business all my life. 32 years, it paid off, and we’re ready to go now.”

However, the location, which can be found at 1216 West Fifth Avenue, will not stay vacant for very long.

Arthur Treacher’s, the restaurant that was currently situated in that location when Kougendakis purchased it, is planning to relocate back to the neighborhood.

Following the closure of Marino’s, Kougendakis disclosed that there will be a “pretty quick turnaround,” and it is possible that Arthur Treacher’s will be operational in a period of time that is less than two weeks.

Kougendakis disclosed that the precise opening date for Arthur Treacher’s is not yet known; nevertheless, it is possible that it might take place as soon as the last day of June or the beginning of July of this year.

In this day and age, it is becoming increasingly difficult for restaurants to keep their doors open due to the growing expenses of food and a number of other causes; therefore, it is encouraging to see one restaurant that is closing on its own terms.

This is a return to the beginnings of Arthur Treacher’s, as the saying goes.

Although it was established in Columbus in 1969, the restaurant has not had a site in the region since the early 2000s when it was first opened.
