Bad Bunny Blasts ICE After Immigration Raids Hit Puerto Rico

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are being criticized by the Bad Bunny for conducting arrests in Puerto Rico.

The Grammy-winning musician and performer, whose true name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, posted a since-deleted video of the ICE operation on Avenida Pontezuela, Carolina, on his Instagram Story. This was because Stories disappears after 24 hours.

Over the video, Bad Bunny can be heard saying in Spanish, “Those motherfuckers are in these cars, RAV-4s.” Here at Pontezuela, they are. Sons of bitches, rather than working and leaving people alone.

Cracking down on suspected immigration infractions has been a top priority for President Donald Trump’s administration since his return to the White House earlier this year.

Nearly three-quarters of those arrested are from the Dominican Republic, while federal police have detained over 500 people in Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory.

Protests against the illegal immigration ICE raids have been happening on all around the country, including in New York and Los Angeles. Trump sent out California’s National Guard to put an end to the protests in Los Angeles.

Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, resisted, formally asking the Trump Administration to “rescind their unlawful deployment of troops in Los Angeles County and return them to my command.”

As the issue moves through the legal system, the appeals court has temporarily blocked a federal judge’s decision for Trump to give the state back authority of National Guard members.

Although a decision has not yet been rendered, the federal appeals court seemed likely to support Trump during a hearing on Tuesday.

In addition, Shakira recently discussed the “constant fear” that immigrants have in the US as a result of Trump’s harsh policies.

“It’s painful to see,” the Colombian-born singer stated. “Now, more than ever, we have to remain united. Now, more than ever, we have to raise our voices and make it very clear that a country can change its immigration policies, but the treatment of all people must always be humane.”
