Driver Shot Dead by Police After Drawing Weapon Post-Crash, Bodycam Shows

The disturbing interaction between the police and the driver of a vehicle that had fled a collision was captured on bodycam video. The driver had reached for a pistol during a traffic stop in Houston, and the police shot and killed him.

According to a post that was made on Facebook by the Houston officers Department last week, Michael Dziedzic allegedly drove away from a three-car accident that occurred on the North Freeway on May 17, but he was detained by officers at a nearby parking lot.

At the beginning of the video, two law enforcement officers approach Dziedzic’s SUV and interview the driver about the collision.

“Were you involved in an accident?” a law enforcement officer enquired.

The response from Dziedzic was “No.”

“What was your intention? You didn’t want to provide your information?” the cop stated. “You know it’s state law to do that, right?”

Dziedzic is then instructed by the officer to exit the vehicle and exit the vehicle.

“I’m not gonna get into a debate about it with you, ok?” according to the cop. “What we’re gonna do is put you in handcuffs and I want you in the back seat, and we’ll put your car over there with the other two cars.”

Next, Dziedzic is seen going into his waistband in order to retrieve a firearm.

The officer yells out, “He’s got a gun, lookout, lookout,” as both of the officers begin firing their weapons. There was a cacophony of gunfire fired!

The next thing that is seen is Dziedzic reaching into his waistband in order to obtain a shooting weapon.

As both of the officers begin firing their weapons, the officer cries out, “He’s got a gun, lookout, lookout,” as the two officers continue to fire their rifles. At that moment, there was a deafening din of gunfire!

“These typically require investigators to interview multiple witnesses, view numerous hours of video footage and analyze a significant amount of forensic evidence,” Smith stated. “It is important to note that we are in the very early stages of the investigation.”
