On Saturday, a Yankees fan made a catch that quickly became a contender for Catch of the Year.
A Bronx Bombers fan had his glove ready as a foul ball was approaching during the Yankees’ home game against the Rays. However, his kid ended up making the catch more difficult because she was sitting on his shoulders.
The happy daughter put her hands over her father’s eyes as the foul ball approached.
Nevertheless, he managed to capture the ball with his glove, securing it to his chest and lifting his hands in victory.
“That’s dad power right there,” Yankees broadcaster Jeff Nelson said as the highlight played on YES Network.
Then he handed his daughter the ball.
In addition to losing 3-2 to the Rays on Saturday, the Yankees also experienced an injury scare with Anthony Volpe, who will not be playing in Sunday’s series finale.
Aaron Judge’s 11th home run of the season was part of the early lead that the Yankees relinquished.
After a two-run inning to take the lead in the eighth inning, the Rays, who are playing this season at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa due to Hurricane damage to Tropicana Field, ended their four-game losing streak.
In the rubber game on Sunday, the Rays led 2-0 early.
