High School Senior Killed in Crash Days Before Graduation, Family Says

Last weekend, a high school student who was just a few days away from graduating was murdered in a single-vehicle crash in Oklahoma.

According to an incident report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the collision happened on Foothill Road on Saturday, May 10, roughly 3 miles north of Springer and 0.4 miles west of U.S. Highway 77.

According to the OHP report, Averiee Osmundson, 18, was operating a 2005 Lexus RX330 east on Foothill Road.

When the car “overcorrected reentering the roadway before overturning an unknown amount of times,” it left the road to the left.

The report went on to say that the Lexus was thrown “about 78 feet from where the vehicle came to rest.”

Authorities say Osmundson, a resident of Springer, was injured in the collision and was declared dead at the spot.

The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office received her body.

A seatbelt was not being worn at the time, according to the OHP investigation. The cause of the collision is being looked into.

In a statement, Osmundson’s cousin Kegan Muth honored her.

“She was more than an 18-year-old graduating high school; she was a beautiful, young, talented girl,” Muth’s statement. “She knew just the right words to say and when to say them. She had a scholarship to attend Oklahoma State University, which she couldn’t wait to attend, even if her bubs said to rethink it.”

“She wanted to be a pediatrician,” the statement added. “All she ever wanted was to help the ones who needed the help. She always made everyone smile and happy. She didn’t see life like everyone else. She saw the bright light in the pitch black dark.”

On Friday, May 16, Osmundson, a senior at Davis High School, was set to graduate.

Part of the letter said, “This terrible loss will be deeply felt throughout our entire school community, especially among the Senior Class of 2025.”

“Our deepest sympathy goes out to Averiee’s family, friends, and our entire school community,” the letter coninued. “Please continue to keep her loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”

Osmundson’s aunt Cassie Muth told that the incident has devastated the family.

“She was only two miles from her house,” Muth stated.

Muth recalled how wonderful her niece’s heart was.

“She could always just put a smile on everybody’s face. She was very adventurous, very outgoing,” Muth stated.

She remarked, “THonestly, I’m still in disbelief that she’s taken from us at such a young age with so much potential and a lot left ahead of her.”
