Authorities claim that a 17-year-old was travelling at 126 mph just seconds before colliding with a minivan in Hollywood, causing it to split in two and partially paralyse a 72-year-old passenger. The teenager is now facing numerous adult charges.

On January 12, Danylo Motlokov impacted the back right side of a 2014 white Toyota Sienna minivan while driving a BMW westbound close to the 2500 block of Sheridan Street in Hollywood. Motlokov made a left turn approaching North 26th Avenue.

Authorities claim that Motlokov was seen on body camera standing close to the passenger side of the crashed BMW, checking on his passenger, who was seriously injured in the collision.

According to them, the other car, a 2014 white Toyota Sienna minivan, was split in half by the impact of the collision.

Researchers noted in Motlokov’s arrest report that “the rear axle, third row of seats, and the rear portion of the van were violently ripped off and then thrown approximately 70 feet into the southeast corner property.”

A 72-year-old female passenger in the Toyota was critically injured in the collision, according to authorities, suffering multiple rib fractures, liver injury, brain bleeding, and a cervical fracture.

The passenger, who resides in an assisted care facility, is now largely paralysed but still has “limited use of some of her limbs,” according to the report.

Prior to Hollywood Fire Rescue transporting him and Motlokov to Memorial Regional Hospital, police also verified that the driver of the Toyota had suffered from side soreness and a minor leg fracture.

Investigators claim data from the BMW’s black box revealed that, in a zone with a 40 mph speed restriction, the vehicle was travelling between 100 and 126 mph in the seconds prior to the collision.

According to the investigation, Motlokov first admitted to officers that he was travelling at 60 mph when the collision occurred.

His driver’s license had been suspended before to the incident because of a prior traffic infraction, investigators also discovered.

Additionally, according to police, they looked through Motlokov’s social media posts, which seemed to show him speeding up to 200 mph in a vehicle that resembled the one that was involved in the collision.

Motlokov, a Russian national, is charged with five offences, including four counts of dangerous driving and driving with a revoked or cancelled licence, according to jail records. He posted a $165,000 bond.

In addition, a judge mandated that Motlokov give up his passport, be placed on Level 1 GPS-monitored pretrial release, and be forbidden from driving.
