Connecticut Man Arrested for Allegedly Sexually Assaulting 8-Year-Old Girl in Meriden

MERIDEN, CT — Police in Meriden have arrested a 28-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl. Authorities say the man, who knew the victim through family connections, was taken into custody following an investigation launched in late June.

According to Meriden Patch, the suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Nyron Brown. He faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • First-degree aggravated sexual assault of a minor
  • Risk of injury to a child
  • Illegal sexual contact

Investigation Began After Victim Disclosed Abuse

Meriden police said they opened the case after receiving a report from the child’s guardian on June 30. The girl had allegedly disclosed the abuse to a trusted adult, who immediately alerted law enforcement.

Detectives from the Special Victims Unit interviewed the victim with assistance from forensic child interviewers. Investigators said Brown was known to the child’s family and had regular access to the home.

Suspect Taken Into Custody, Bond Set at $750,000

Brown was arrested on July 30 without incident and is being held on a $750,000 bond at the Meriden Police Department detention facility. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court next week.

“This was a swift and thorough investigation by our Special Crimes detectives,” Meriden Police Chief Roberto Rosado said in a press statement. “We take crimes against children with the utmost seriousness.”

Community Urged to Stay Alert

Police are asking anyone with additional information related to Brown or similar incidents to contact the Meriden Police tip line at 203-630-6253.

The arrest has caused concern among residents, with many urging parents to speak with their children about personal safety and boundaries.
