The following automobiles are prohibited from being registered or driven on New York state roadways, citing the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles:
- Mini-bike
- Off-road Motorcycle (Dirt Bike)
- Go-Kart
- Golf Cart
- KEI-Class Vehicles
- Lawnmower
These vehicles are prohibited in order to protect road safety. These cars lack essential components that make a vehicle roadworthy in addition to not meeting safety regulations.
Mini-bikes, for instance, are devoid of crucial safety features like mirrors and headlights. Golf carts and other automobiles aren’t made to run in fast traffic.

Updates to speed limits are among the other changes that New York drivers can anticipate seeing this year. The speed limit in New York City will drop from 25 mph to 20 mph.
