Virginia parents slam school board for investigating teens over trans locker room concerns

Following the announcement that three male students are being investigated after being caught on camera in a male locker room complaining about a biological female being changed with them, incensed parents expressed their ire at a Virginia county school board meeting on Tuesday.

The boys are being investigated for Title IX breaches by the Loudoun County Public Schools, which gained national attention in 2021 when a father was detained and escorted out of a board meeting for speaking out against the sexual abuse of his daughter by a trans student at a nearby school.

One kid said that he felt “uncomfortable” about the circumstances at Stone Bridge High School, and the trans boy, who is a biological female, videotaped them asking why “a girl” was there.

A Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) official told Fox 5 DC that although it is against the law to record in locker rooms, no privacy laws were broken because none of the boys were seen in compromising postures on the footage.

The boys, meanwhile, are being investigated for allegedly breaking regulation 8040, a contentious rule that was implemented in 2021 and allows students to use locker rooms and facilities that correspond to their gender identification rather than their biological sex.

Taking to the microphone, Scott Smith, the father who was detained during that contentious event in 2021, accused the board of first denying that his daughter had been raped and warned that their rules would result in similar outcomes for future pupils.

“And now four years later you’re doing the same damn thing,” Smith said. “You’re victimizing innocent children over the priority of kids that don’t know,” he said before his mic appeared to be muted after his one-minute speaking slot had expired and he was told to hand step aside.

“I’m not done yet,” Smith roared. “You guys are sick and pathetic,” he said to applause.

The board decided last year to forgo a video projection during the public comment portion of its board meetings, so Smith’s remarks and those of the 130 or so parents who spoke were not captured on camera.

Smith at the time criticized the decision, telling “America’s Newsroom” that the board was attempting to silence public opposition to their radical agenda. In 2021, a transgender student at Stone Bridge High School sexually molested Smith’s daughter.

Smith was later pardoned by Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin after being found guilty of disorderly conduct related to the 2021 school board meeting.

On Tuesday, Suzanne Satterfield also attacked the board, claiming that kids depend on adults to be honest with them and keep them safe.

“Every girl and boy has the right to feel secure using private spaces without being invaded by the opposite sex,” Satterfield stated. “Every day that policy 8040 remains in play children are being lied to so that that they can be born in the wrong body can change their sex.”

Amy Paul, the speaker, attacked the board, calling policy 8040 “insane.”

“You all have helped facilitate this charade for long enough and it’s time to put an end to the madness,” Paul stated. “You’re investigating three young men for having common sense enough to state the obvious, girls do not belong in boys locker rooms.”

“Please don’t tell me that he or she is really a he, we’re done playing that game, there is no such thing as a child born in the wrong body… You’re taking kids who have serious issues and instead of trying to understand why they’re rejecting their true selves, you encourage them to go down a path that could lead to irreparable harm to their bodies. It’s time for you to act like the adults.”

Policy 8040 was not universally disapproved of; according to one female speaker, the policy was developed with community feedback, data, and professional input to guarantee that all students are safe, seen, and supported. She claimed that the governor election later this year is the handy reason for the commotion.

The incident in Loudoun County occurred the day after a trans junior high school student won several events at a local track meet, sparking a confrontation between parents and locals at a school board meeting in the Chicago area on Monday.
