According to the Food and Drug Administration, Big Y is recalling a few made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, and paninis because they may contain salmonella.
On Tuesday, May 20, and Wednesday, May 21, the products were offered for sale at specific stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
All made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, and paninis that the kitchen department produces in response to customer requests are included in the recall.
Big Y was informed that the cucumbers it uses as a possible ingredient in these products are being investigated for an outbreak that involves Bedner Growers, Inc. Due to the salmonella outbreak, at least 20 people nationwide have become ill.
Serious illness can be caused by the organism salmonella, particularly in young children and the elderly. In certain situations, it can be lethal. Fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain are some of the symptoms.
The FDA says that no illnesses have been connected to the Big Y products. The following stores carried the products:

Salmonella-contaminated water may have been used to wash the impacted produce, according to food experts. The FDA is still looking into how Bedner Growers contaminated cucumbers.
