Authorities Confirm 11 Injured in South Carolina Beach Area Shooting

According to officials, a shooting in a seaside town in South Carolina left at least 11 people hospitalized on Sunday night.

According to a statement from the Horry County Police Department, following the shooting in the Little River neighborhood, more victims were probably transported in private vehicles to medical institutions. The injured people’s conditions remained unknown.

The inquiry is “active” and “ongoing,” according to the police.

“Community members are advised to steer clear of the area as public safety personnel do their work,” police stated.

According to a separate statement from Myrtle Beach police, a North Myrtle Beach police officer who was responding to the incident was hurt when his gun unintentionally fired.

According to the department, the officer was stabilized at a hospital after suffering a leg wound.

According to authorities, the gunfire, which occurred just before 10 p.m., was limited to the area close to the Intracoastal Waterway. “There is no risk to the community at this time,” they stated.

The cause of the violence and if multiple shooters were engaged were unclear.

More than 11,000 people live in Little River, a village close to the North Carolina border and along the Grand Strand of the South Carolina coast.

The town is well-known for its casino boats, boat tours, and deep-sea fishing charters. Northeast of Myrtle Beach, it is roughly 25 miles away.
