According to investigators, a Checkers employee fatally shot a customer outside the fast food restaurant in Florida after a fight over mayonnaise.
According to authorities, 23-year-old Elijah Mackey is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 40-year-old Wesley Robertson.
Deputies from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to a gunshot at the Checkers at 5780 W. U.S. 192 in Kissimmee just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday, said a probable cause arrest document.
Robertson was taken by paramedics to a hospital, where medical professionals declared him deceased.
Detectives were later informed by witnesses that Robertson had repeatedly asked to speak with a manager and had been whining to a female employee about his order.
According to the affidavit, one witness told police that the altercation was about missing mayonnaise packages. Mackey came around to the front of the building and started arguing with Robertson while he was standing at the window.
According to the affidavit, witnesses thought Robertson called Mackey a “p—y” or a “b—” during the altercation. According to reports, Mackey responded, “Oh, I am a p—y,?” produced a firearm and fired a shot into Robertson’s chest.
After running off, Mackey went back to get his backpack and then took off again. Later, Mackey was discovered by police hiding beneath a stairwell at a neighboring hotel. According to the affidavit, he asked deputies if the man was okay while brandishing a gun.
According to police, Mackey climbed out of a drive-thru window and ran up to Robertson before shooting him in the Checkers’ video.
