Salmonella Fears Lead to Albertsons Recall in 11 States and Washington, D.C.

Three store-made deli products in 11 states and Washington, D.C., have been voluntarily recalled by Albertsons Companies owing to possible Salmonella contamination connected to an ongoing incident that has affected almost 30 people.

In 2025, a number of recalls have been started because of the possibility of contaminated items, foodborne sickness, damaged goods, and unreported food allergies.

Each year, millions of Americans suffer from food allergies or sensitivities. Eggs, milk, fish, wheat, soybeans, crustacean shellfish, sesame, tree nuts, and peanuts are the nine “major” dietary allergens in the United States, according to the dietary and Drug Administration (FDA).

Salmonella can occasionally result in deadly illnesses in young infants, the elderly, or those with compromised immune systems, the FDA says. Salmonella can cause vomiting, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and abdominal pain.

After learning that the products contained cucumber ingredients from Bedner Growers, Inc. of Boynton Beach, Florida, Fresh Creative Foods, a part of Reser’s Fine Foods, Inc., took action to start the recall.

In connection with the tainted cucumbers, the FDA has verified that nine people have been admitted to hospitals and 26 people have been reported ill.

Cucumbers sold at Florida’s Bedner’s Farm Fresh Markets between April 29 and May 14, 2025, are the source of the current outbreak. In order to match recent clinical samples from sick individuals using Whole Genome Sequencing analysis, FDA scientists obtained environmental samples from Bedner Growers that tested positive for Salmonella.

Following earlier 2024 occurrences with Salmonella Africana and Salmonella Braenderup, which were also connected to the cucumber output of Bedner Growers, this incidence marks the company’s second Salmonella epidemic.
