Authorities Capture Three Escaped Inmates, Two Still Missing Near New Orleans

Authorities reported Monday that they have apprehended three more fugitive combatants after a group of ten prisoners broke out of a New Orleans jail.

At first, authorities said Lenton Vanburen had been apprehended in Baton Rouge and was now back in custody.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill said on X that Vanburen was first imprisoned on accusations of illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and parole violation.

He will be charged with further escape-related offenses.

According to the Louisiana State Police, the Texas Department of Public Safety detained Leo Tate and Jermaine Donald in Walker County, Texas.

Before being arrested, Donald and Tate led many agencies of law enforcement on a fast-paced pursuit, according to Huntsville Police in Texas.

“Leo Tate and Jermaine Donald were arrested on May 26th after leading law enforcement officers from several agencies on a high-speed chase through the Huntsville area,” the department stated on Facebook. “The pursuit ended near US 190 and Geneva, where both subjects were taken into custody.”

Initially, Donald was accused of obstruction of justice, aggravated battery, second-degree murder, and felon possession of a firearm or weapon.

Tate was imprisoned for simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of a firearm or weapon by a felon, motor vehicle theft, and several narcotics offenses.

Eight of the ten escaped prisoners have been apprehended again as of Monday. Corey Boyd was arrested last week, which was the most recent inmate arrest prior to Vanburen’s capture.

Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, Dkenan Dennis, and Gary Price are the other prisoners who were taken back.

Thirteen others have also been taken into custody for allegedly helping the escapees. Authorities said on Monday that Diamond White, 21, the most recent accomplice, had been taken into custody for aiding Antoine Massey, who is still at large.
