A tornado tore through a rural area of Washington County, Kentucky, on Friday morning, leaving at least one person dead and several more injured.
The death was confirmed by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. According to deputies, the twister made landfall a few miles east of Springfield, along Long Run Road.
The tornado tore off roofs and struck multiple homes, according to the director of Washington County’s Emergency Management Department.
According to the National Weather Service, a Louisville storm survey team has already discovered damage of at least EF-2 level while the survey is still in progress.
At least six people were hurt, according to a social media post by Governor Andy Beshear. After canceling his afternoon plans, Beshear advised everyone to be mindful of the weather.
Just before 7 a.m. local time, the Louisville National Weather Service Office issued a tornado warning based on radar data.
According to the sheriff’s office, the situation is currently active, and they are requesting that the public give first responders room to work.
Tennessee has suffered severe weather damage.

A few hours later, another storm damaged and injured people in Tennessee’s Loudon County.
Images of a house and many buildings with their roofs torn off were shared on social media by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
According to the department, damage from wind or tornadoes near Sweetwater and Philadelphia, Tennessee, sent four people to the hospital.
A severe storm pattern that has dominated the South and Southeast for the past week is coming to an end today.
