After colliding into another car on Wednesday, a mother was arrested for OWI allegedly with three children under the age of five unsupervised in her car.
Madison Police Department officers report that at around 10:20 p.m. on May 28, they were dispatched to the junction of South Baldwin Street and Williamson Street in response to complaints of a two-vehicle collision.
Officers detained 24-year-old Shaiti Garcia for operating a motor vehicle while drunk following an investigation.
Three children, all under five, were reportedly in Garcia’s car when the collision occurred. According to the officers, none of the three kids were restrained.
The children were given to a family member after Child Protective Services was informed.
Garcia is also charged with three counts of neglecting a child.
No other details were disclosed.
