Alhambra robbery suspect arrested after pursuit and Tree Crash in Los Angeles

Police in Los Angeles confirmed that at least one robbery suspect was apprehended after a pursuit on Friday night.

According to Alhambra police, the pursuit began shortly before 10 p.m. when officers identified the car as a suspect vehicle in a Temple City robbery.

According to unconfirmed reports, the robbery may have been armed.

Alhambra police officers pursued the automobile but backed off when it began driving erratically.

Officers of the LAPD quickly took over, resuming the chase, which was seen passing through downtown Los Angeles at 10 p.m.

Before the chase continued, the driver pulled over and at least one passenger exited the vehicle. It was unclear whether more than one person remained inside, and the LAPD did not immediately confirm whether the passenger was apprehended.

The driver was seen driving on mostly surface roadways, veering into oncoming lanes to avoid cars and passing through traffic lights. Pursuing officers were spotted flashing lights as they approached civilians in crosswalks.

At 10:30 p.m., it was stated that authorities did not utilise PIT manoeuvres because the suspect(s) may have been armed. Instead, cops attempted to form a perimeter around the chase.

Though the driving remained dangerous, the suspect travelled at comparatively slow to moderate speeds, allowing witnesses to flee when approached.

A spike strip was thrown around 11 p.m., but it was ineffective in halting the car.

About ten minutes later, the car was seen attempting to perform a U-turn on the sidewalk between South Gramercy Place and West 62nd Street, but the driver smashed into a tree.

The police swiftly surrounded the automobile. Because the driver’s side of the car was obstructed by the tree, the suspect exited via the passenger door and surrendered to authorities.
