Armed Joliet Teen taken into Custody after Grundy county Chase hits 105 MPH

In a Facebook press statement on Tuesday, Grundy County Sheriff Ken Briley said that a 17-year-old Joliet man who had a loaded stolen gun and had threatened to shoot someone was apprehended after a chase that reached speeds of over 105 mph on Monday night.

The pursuit started in Morris, went to Shorewood, and came to an end in Minooka.

According to Briley, Grundy County was notified at 10:19 p.m. that the 17-year-old was on his way to Joliet or Minooka to shoot an unidentified male in relation to an incident that had occurred earlier that day. He claimed that in addition to stealing a car from a Peruvian company, the teenager also carried a stolen gun.

According to the Illinois State Police, the adolescent sped off when they attempted to stop the car in the Ottawa region.

Morris police and Grundy deputies were notified about 10:30 p.m. that the kid was driving carelessly on Route 6 by the Morris Arby’s. According to the sheriff’s department, a pursuit started after a sheriff’s deputy noticed the car on Bedford Road close to Lisbon Road.

The pursuit started east on Interstate 80 from Morris and then headed north on I-55 into the Shorewood area. A Minooka police officer placed spike strips close to Ridge and Midpoint roads and was able to puncture the tires after the fugitive teen turned on Ridge Road and drove south back into Grundy County, according to Grundy County officials.

The Joliet 17-year-old was taken into custody after the police eventually pulled up the disabled car on Ridge Road at Mondamin Road. One loaded. The sheriff reported that a pistol with a calibre of 38 was found.

The teenager is currently being held at the LaSalle County Juvenile Detention Centre on a number of counts, including reckless driving, driving in the wrong lane, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated escape from police, and speeding 105 mph in a 45 mph zone.
