Becket, MA – Get ready for a day full of fun and community spirit as the Becket Family Fun Festival returns to North Becket Park on Saturday, September 27th. Hosted by the Becket Parks and Recreation Committee (BPRC), this second annual event promises an expanded lineup of entertainment and activities that cater to all ages and interests. The festival runs from noon to 5 pm, with a rain date set for Sunday, September 28th.
A Celebration for Every Family Member
Building on the success of last year’s gathering, this year’s festival features more children’s activities like carnival games, face painting, and the beloved pet parade, which showcases the community’s furry friends. The adjacent pickleball court will be buzzing throughout the day, while bean bag baseball offers an inclusive game that brings together participants of all generations.
“It’s an opportunity for people to get together, have fun, and meet new neighbors,” said Mo Vandesteene, BPRC chair. “It will be a great community gathering.”
Local Talent and New Entertainment Highlights
The festival’s entertainment lineup spotlights local musicians and performers, kicking off with the Becket Praise Team. Attendees can also enjoy performances by fan favorites The Ladies Diane and Derek Rogers. Adding a special creative touch, the Becket Arts Center (BAC) will present an original children’s theater performance designed specifically for the festival.
New this year is a raffle and 50/50 drawing, introducing an exciting opportunity for attendees to win prizes graciously donated by local businesses.
Creating a Relaxed Picnic Atmosphere
The event encourages visitors to come prepared for a leisurely afternoon. Bringing along chairs, blankets, and homemade lunches is welcomed for those wanting to picnic. For others, food options will be conveniently available: both the Neon Newt and Route 8 Pub will provide carryout meals, with additional fare offered within the park.
How the Community Can Get Involved
The Becket Family Fun Festival thrives on community support in many forms. Local businesses can contribute through sponsorships—either monetary or by donating gift certificates for the raffle. Individual donations are also appreciated, with any funds raised beyond event expenses benefiting the Becket Arts Center (BAC).
Volunteers play a vital role in a smooth-running event. Roles include greeters, parking assistants, game hosts, and cleanup teams, giving residents a chance to engage directly in making the festival enjoyable for all attendees.
