The May 2025 payment dates have been confirmed by the Social Security Administration.
Many retirees did not qualify for that payday because they began receiving benefits after May 1997 or because they were not receiving both retirement payments and SSI (Supplemental Security Income) at the same time, even though other retirees received their money on May 3.
So, on one of the final three Wednesdays in May, they will get a Social Security payout. Remember that only retirees who fulfill the birthday requirements are eligible for these payouts.
By doing this, the Administration makes sure that each beneficiary receives their retirement benefit in the order that it was due on their birthdate.
Payments from Social Security will be disbursed on the 14th
On May 14, millions of retirees will get their monthly paycheck. In the US, this will be the first Wednesday payment round for retirees.
Your birthdate is the primary requirement for receiving a monthly retirement benefit on May 14.
Your payday will be on May 14 if you were born between May 1st and May 10th. Social Security will verify that you are not a Supplemental Security Income recipient in the United States and that you did not receive payments prior to May 1997.
Regarding the payout amounts, if they are eligible, some retirees will get $5,108. This is going to be feasible if you:
- 35 years of employment (less years lowers your reward amount)
- earned the maximum taxable amount (contribution and benefit base), all of the years you worked at jobs that paid payroll taxes for Social Security, and you filed at age 70 (filing before this age lowers your monthly payment amount).
On May 21 or May 28, will Social Security pay out up to $5,108?
Additionally, the Administration has the authority to disburse up to $5,108 on May 21 and May 28, 2025.
Naturally, this will only be feasible if you fulfill the previously stated prerequisites.
But since you were born on a different payday, the remuneration is different. For instance, your next paycheck will be on May 21, 2025, if you were born between the 11th and the 20th.
Those who were born on one of the last days of May will receive their last paycheck
From the 21st to the 31st, that is. Remember that if you received benefits prior to May 1997 or if you are simultaneously receiving SSI, you are not eligible for any of these Wednesday payments.
The average Social Security payout to retirees is $1,997. In any case, because each beneficiary received a different wage while working, they all receive entirely different amounts.

Remember that spouses might receive an average of $946, excluding retired employees. If qualified, certain children may also get Social Security benefits on the worker’s record.
According to the Social Security Administration, a child can get an average of $923. As of March 2025, these are the average amounts.
