Billy The Kid Season 2: Release date, Cast and updates you need to know

Billy the Kid is an American adventure, romance, thrill, and drama TV series. Directed by Otto Bathurst, the series debuted on 24 April 2022 on EPIX. 

The series follows a kid named Billy who is looking for a life full of adventure and love. 

The series stars Tom Blyth, Daniel Webber, and Eileen O’Higgins as the main cast of Billy the Kid TV Series (2022). Within a month of its release, Epix has announced Billy the Kid, the adventure series about the well-known American outlaw who is also called William H. 

Tom Blyth who plays the protagonist revealed in one of his interviews that he’s always dreamt of this role. Well, I guess the young actor’s dreams did come true.  

“You know, I’m not too much of a believer in fate–I think you make your own–but there was a feeling that this had been a long time coming. And then when I read the script, even more so because Michael [Hirst]’s writing just made sense to me, and it felt like I knew this character.”

Blyth continued, “And weirdly, even though I’d grown up on Westerns and watched a lot of John Wayne movies growing up, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was one of my favourites, I had never read much about Billy. I knew who he was, I’d seen that kind of iconic picture, but really hadn’t done a deep dive into him as I had with other people, like Jesse James.”

“So reading the script that Michael wrote, I was kind of blown away by the eccentricities of him and his intricacies and the parts of him that I didn’t expect from a gun slinging, badass kind of cowboy,” he added. 

Is Billy The Kid Renewed For Season 2?

The debut season was filled with all sorts of thrills, which included a bit of romance. To put it simply, it was fully jammed with interesting circumstances. However, as of November 2022, the showrunner of Billy The Kid has not revealed whether they plan to make another season of the program. So let’s say it entirely depends on the showrunners. Although fans are longing for a new season, it is not certain if the fans’ wishes will be fulfilled. 

In terms of rating, it scored an average of 43 percent based on 7 critics on Rotten Tomatoes with an audience score of 83 percent based on 54 user ratings. On IMDb, it scored an average of 7.2 out of 10 based on 3,943 user votes. 

So considering the ratings, we could say that it did quite well so it is now up to Epix to make the ultimate decision on whether to return with a new season or not. 

Billy The Kid Season 2 Release Date

The first season aired on 24 April 2022 and it was scheduled to release its finale episode on 1 September 2022. The series contains a total of 8 episodes each 40-45 minutes long. 

Billy the Kid season 2, is yet to be finalized by the makers. So far, there has been no official announcement regarding the release date or renewal made by Epix. 

Therefore, keeping an eye on the current scenario, we can expect the show to be released in 2023.

Because there have been no public announcements regarding Billy The Kid season 2, we can’t deduce what might happen in the second instalment. Well, it’s for sure that if season 2 were to happen, it will commence from where the last season left off.

Billy The Kid collected outstanding reviews from critics. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 80% and a Tomatometer rating of 84%. Whereas on  IMDb, the film has earned an average score of 7.8 out of 100.
