Birmingham teen killed in Gardendale’s first homicide since 2023

After a gunshot in Gardendale, a Birmingham adolescent passed away early on Friday.

The victim was identified as Jaylon Jarriel Gregory by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. He was 19.

Although Chapel Ridge Drive was identified as the location of injuries by the coroner’s office, Gardendale police detectives are still attempting to pinpoint the precise time and location of the incident.

According to Chief Scott Banks, when the victim arrived at UAB Hospital, police were alerted. Gregory passed away on Friday at 12:44 a.m. at the hospital.

Gregory is the first murder in Gardendale this year and the first since 2023. The Gardendale murder is one of 58 homicides that have occurred in Jefferson County.
