A frantic police chase from Livingston County to Lansing on Tuesday afternoon is captured on new dash-cam video released by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.

Police apprehended two young adults and three teenagers after the chase ended in a multi-vehicle accident.

According to the speedometer in the video, the driver of the BMW X5 SUV was traveling at speeds of more than 120 mph. The BMW has also been witnessed colliding with at least half a dozen other vehicles on the interstate and other roads around town. The sheriff’s department claims that at one point in the footage, a gun is seen being thrown from the SUV onto the freeway. This rifle and another were found on the road.

After exiting I-96, the BMW driver collided with a car waiting at a red light near Jolly Rd and Cedar St, along with other vehicles, which eventually came to a halt.

Within seconds of the incident, four persons in the SUV are seen fleeing the scene, but one remains with the vehicle and lies down on the road until being apprehended.

During the first inquiry, authorities discovered a 19-year-old Lansing male whom they believe was the driver. Deputies booked him into the Livingston County Jail. Deputies also discovered four more people in the BMW who are all underage. They’re 15, 16, 17, and 18 years old.
