Boy, 13, accused of shooting at deputies during crisis call in Douglas County

Authorities in Wisconsin say a 13-year-old kid is currently in jail after he allegedly shot a gun at deputies “at least three times” on Tuesday night.

Deputies were called to a residence on the 5000 block of State Highway 35 at approximately 4:35 p.m. after receiving a report of an unruly young person hurling and smashing objects, according to a statement from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The 13-year-old informed officials they would have to shoot him when they initially made contact with him on the porch of the house.

Then, when a deputy sought shelter around a corner, the 13-year-old apparently went back outside with a long rifle and discharged it.

As several responding deputies positioned themselves surrounding the house, one deputy securely removed the person who reported the incident.

Authorities said the 13-year-old came out of the house within an hour and shot at deputies “at least three times.” One deputy claimed to have heard a bullet pass over their head.

Eventually, the suspect entered the garage after leaving the house without the gun. Later, wearing a black military vest, he came out of the garage.

The 13-year-old was arrested without incident after leaving the garage. There were several gunshots fired during the incident, but no one was hurt.

There is currently no additional information available.
