CALERA As Independence Day draws near, the community anticipates a celebration of independence filled with fireworks, barbecues, and time spent with loved ones.

This year, the monthly First Friday event on Calera Main Street will also serve as the community’s Fourth of July celebration. There will be food, live music, fireworks, and more for locals and visitors from the surrounding communities to enjoy.

Alicia Anderson of Calera Main Street is excited about the celebration because it is one of her favorite occasions that the organization hosts every year.

Anderson remarked, “I am really excited for our First Friday on July 4. Downtown will be alive with excitement as there will be live music, food trucks, and fireworks. It’s going to be an incredible time. You can sense the neighborhood coming together to celebrate, which makes it one of my favorite occasions.

Calera Main Street put in a lot of effort to make sure that everyone who attended had the greatest time. The group made sure to include everyone, from the food and music to making sure kids weren’t left out.

“The community is going to have a fantastic evening,” Anderson stated. Take in eight distinct food trucks, a range of local vendors, and live music from Paul Johnson and Darrayl Park of the band Twelve. The inflatable kids’ area will be a huge hit with the kids.

Anderson is optimistic about the July Fourth celebration’s ability to unite the neighborhood and improve the town.

I genuinely think our community would benefit greatly from this event, Anderson stated. It’s an opportunity for everyone to get together, form new relationships, and truly experience small-town Calera pride, so it’s more than simply a fun night.

Because more individuals will be available to do business with them, the event also has the potential to have an influence on nearby companies. Visitors from outside Calera will have the opportunity to experience the town’s beauty firsthand.

According to Anderson, such gatherings encourage people to shop and eat locally, support our neighborhood merchants, and help families make enduring memories. Additionally, it serves as a reminder of why Calera is such a unique place to live when we see everyone gathered downtown, celebrating together. It’s precisely the kind of thing that preserves our hometown spirit and builds our feeling of community.

At six o’clock in the evening, the First Friday Independence Day celebration will get underway. At 9 p.m., the Calera Fire Department will begin its fireworks display.
