An armed carjacker took a man’s car in broad daylight last week and dumped it less than a mile away.
Officers are hunting for the suspect, who they describe as a white or light-skinned male in his 20s or 30s with wavy brown hair and a skinny physique. He was spotted on doorbell camera footage wearing a pink sweater and black trousers at the time of the incident.
According to Miami Township Sergeant Ray Swallen, the suspect was carrying a black semi-automatic gun at the time of the crime.
According to his wife, Baylea Flowers, the automobile owner was sitting in his car on Friday morning, making work phone calls, when the suspect opened the door and urged him to get out.
“He heard the gun click back,” Flowers explained.
Flowers’ husband obeyed the carjacker’s demands and exited the vehicle, while the robber drove away. He phoned the cops and then called Flowers to inform her what had transpired.
“I was freaked out, I wasn’t home, and neither were my kids. We were worried. My first thing was ‘Oh my gosh.’ What if my kids were in the back seat of the car?” Flowers said.
The stolen vehicle was taken from Eastbrook Drive.
According to News Centre 7 at 5:00, Flowers’ husband went around the region during his lunch break looking for his car. He found it near the Sagebrook Drive apartment complex, less than a mile from where the automobile was stolen.
Officers believe the suspect fled the Sagebrook neighbourhood in a blue Chevrolet Cruze.
This level of aggression in broad daylight is unusual, according to Swallen.
“We don’t normally see crimes of violence in mid-day, in broad daylight, I can’t remember the last time we had actual carjacking,” Swallen said.
Flowers’ family has lived in the region for three years and said they have never felt so frightened.
“We’ve got two small children and I don’t even want them playing outside. If people are going to walk around here with guns, the last thing I want to do is let my kid play at the park,” Flowers said.
